Hi folks I am interested to become a strategy consultant. My background:- 1 year research experience in process forecasting, performance evaluation, and improvement- 1 year experience (before PhD) in Software Engineering- Some teaching experience- PhD in process modelling and simulation from an avg. British Uni.- MSc. Software Engineering with distinction- First degree in computingThe questions I am contemplating:1. Should I go for MBA? If not, what do you recommend?2. If yes, which school? (I am considering Lancaster. Cant think of LBS, Manchester and Said as they are too expensive)3. Not born and raised in the UK, non-European, and English isn't my first language. Could it be a disadvantage for a management consultant working in Europe? I speak fluent English though.4. I dont have UCAS equivalent required by most consultancies. Could that be a problem despite having and MBA and a PhD?Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Personally I'd recommend getting some work exxperience rather than more time in Academia.The gain a credible MBA you'll need to bring something to the party and with no real experience you're not well positioned to do that, at present.I take it you've had no success thus far, you could either go into industry and exploit your academics, or go into a mid-range consulting firm to get some experience.

Agree with RAOL comment - you need practical experience now lest you be seen as the perpetual student. I would go for a mid-range consulting company to get some consulting skills and clients under your belt. Forget the "strategy" for now but keep as a target for a couple of years time.
