I would like to see if people could please suggest some boutique firms in London that specialises in strategy & operations type projects (aka corporate strategy, growth strategy as well as operational / functional strategy).By boutique I'm referring to either Pan-UK operations or Pan-European operations rather than global boutiques (e.g. CVA). Any industry niche is ok too.Anyone have suggestions or could refer me to a website that has a listing?Thanks!

Boutique is more of a quasi-marketing term rather than a geographical one. It impliesi) small or medium sized rather than bigii) ability to compete on quality rather than low price (so not a bucket shop)iii) this therefore tends to be achieved through some specialisation.You're right to see the geographical divide though. It would be a bit of pain if the owner started expanding massively ten's of thousands of miles from your usual hunting ground and you had to survive on little more than a hope and a prayer.I'd seriously narrow down the industry niche point though if you can - even if you are left with more than one.I'm afraid there isn't a directory of absolutely all consultancies - and I do not know of any websites that are better than this, given your geographical focus (other than looking at firm's sites). Perhaps others might be able to expand further?

I looked at similar sort of firms and applied to LEK, OC&C, Marakon and Monitor Gp.LEK didn't reply at all, despite me phoning the person in HR I had emailed (who assured me my CV had been passed on) and emailing her again three weeks later.OC&C replied after a month - had a really quick set of interviews and infact I am now working for them!Marakon and Monitor weren't recruiting for 'experienced hires' at the time I applied (Sept).Hope this helps...

Thanks for the responses everyone.I understand what hardhat is trying to say in terms of specialisation in terms of industry as well as the functional aspects. To make things easier, I am interested in firms with a presence in the following industries:Consumer ProductsInnovationMedia & EntertainmentAny suggestions?I have been trying to google these firms using specific keywords but the results aren't always exhaustive. I have definitely looked into OCC, LEK, Marakon, Monitor, Roland Berger, CVA etc which are all fantastic firms but I'm curious to know whether there are others? Especially with a UK / European presence?Does anyone know whether those firms are hiring experienced consultants currently? (I've looked at all their websites but it's not always updated). As for the question by M on CVA, I know some people who work with them, they seem to work pretty hard but treat their employees quite well?Thanks once again!
