Hi,To what extent do you make use of consulting methodologies, tools, or research studies in your day-to-day work? For example, do you use assignment management tools and do you have proprietary data or detailed case studies to draw on? To correlate answers to this question, it'd be great to know what type of consulting you do.I appreciate this is a pretty general question. The reason I am asking it is that I have been working as an analyst for about 8 months and have found that where I work we don't have any methodologies to draw on. Research is all by Google and project management is pretty much make it up as you go along - we don't tend to draw on prior work. I was wondering if this was common for consulting.I work in change management for a fairly well-known mid-sized London firm, but am aware that other firms and sectors could be quite different in their approaches.Obviously detailed project planning, Gantt charts, four-box models, etc. are not appropriate to all projects. However, I was expecting a more rigorous approach in a firm of this size and reputation. I'm now trying to "recalibrate my expectations" :-)
