Hi,Generally what does it mean when you apply to a certain firm and don't hear from them after a month. Should you follow it up, leave it all together and consider it a rejection. What is the advicce. Thanks

Follow it up but don't hold your breath if you've not even received an application acknowledgement so far.

I would always follow up if you haven't heard anything. When i applied to Accenture I heard nothing and decided to phone. It turned out I'd started 2 applications by accident so the system wasn't going to process either of them. When they sorted this out and processed my app. I got interviewed and an offer so it's definately worth chasing up!

I do some of the CV sifting for one of the large consultancies, and as we prefer to have consulting staff look at the CVs and determine whether we should invite the candidates in for interview it can sometimes take a few weeks for them to respond as they are all busy working on consulting assignments.I would definitely chase it up - it probably just means that the person who looks at CVs for your particular skill set either hasn't got round to it yet (and so a bit of gentle chasing won't hurt), or could have been off ill etc and the fact your CV was outstanding with them accidentally missed (so not forwarded to an alternative CV screener).
