I have heard, from friends and colleagues alike, that oftentimes interviews for experienced hires in the top MBBB can be almost a formality if candidates are referred. What was said was that the HR screening process is SO stringent, coupled with the referral - that the interview becomes a cultural fit conversation, with perhaps a discussion on growth etc - and then the offer is reached. I even heard that one of the MBBB hires 95% of the experienced hire referees it interviews... Can someone comment on this? BTW I am referring to junior through to senior-associate roles, not MBA candidates. ThanksG

nepotism is rife, and this is therefore an accurate reflection of the interview process...

It depends who refers you and how compelling a reference they give you, but it can be accurate. If someone just knows you casually and recommends you, they'll be as keen as anyone to make sure you're properly assessed for competence - otherwise it reflects badly on them if you turn out to be terrible. However, if the person recommending you has worked alongside you for an extended period previously, then they will be more confident in standing behind your performance.
