Looking at the job ads on these pages, many of them are looking for 'Business Transformation Consultants'. I'm interested to know what people's views are on what Business Transformation actually is (other than obviously transforming a business). Is it something that is sold directly to clients, is it a way of working, or is it just a way of grouping together lots of other more focused offerings such as Org Design, Culture Change, Shared Services etc?

"Business transformation" is the latest term for outsourcing and offshoring.I work for a fairly large consultancy in London. When we launched our "business transformation" offering, we just got someone to go through the marketing materials replacing references to outsourcing with references to transformation and then reprinted the brochures with some new cheesy photos.It sounds like something off Getting Drunk in First Class (gdifc.com) but unfortunately it's true.
