Has anyone heard anything re their Bain milkround application?

Just that they'd let me know whether I'd be invited for interview by mid december...you?

No I havent heard anything yet - did hear from somewhere that they would respond on the 11th but that was obviously wrong. It's one of my many 'neither yes nor nos' at the moment!!

Well not to worry, at least that's Better than my many no's.

I think the deadline was the 11th so I'm guessing at least a week till they get back to us...fingers crossed!I know it doesn't help at all but I'm beginning to realise how much of a lottery it can all be when I've got an offer from Deloitte, going along well with the McK process yet rejected from BCG, Mercer, Monitor, BAH, Roland Berger, AT Kearney and I'm sure a few more before its all over!Anyway good luck to everyone who's waiting!

You see I still have no response from LEK, Roland Berger or PwC Strategy as well as Bain and a couple of others who I know haven't got back with their decisions yet! It's the fact that I'm completely unable to estimate my 2007 career prospects that's killing me...Maybe I should make a few nudging phone calls tomorrow...

BAH started interviewing last week and PWC were contacting shortlisted candidates at the start of the week so I wouldn't expect an interview if I were you.

Haha Roland Berger sent me a 2nd rejection today, just to kick me while I'm already down!

hey... i too got rejected by mck, bcg, mars n lek.but there is one thing that i wanted to share about bain hr people. i think they are very friendly, welcoming and considerate. i spoke to hr staffs of mck and bcg before and would label them cold, snob and indifference. however, when i spoke to bainies, they were very energetic and you could easily feel the positiveness of their side. when i introduced myself as one of the ac applicants, she quickly replied "thank you! that is great! and how can i help you?" i never received this kind of message from any other firms.

I just got called up to interview with Bain. Good luck to everyone else

i just called bain to reconfirm and its true that they have started calling people for interview. all the best to you john

that is strange as i have just spoken to beatrice smart (after my many attempts) and she told me that bain has not made any phone calls to people for interview. i asked her twice on this and said that i read from a consultant forum that people have actually received calls from Bain. In response, she said that she can confirm that bain do not make any calls. all replies , successful or otherwise, will be made via email.beatrice also said that they are still processing the replies and was not sure whether i was in the first 3 thousands or not. based on this, i assumed that bain processed their replies in batches.she, however, was not able to accurately determine when all applicants can get their replies.there is still hope guys....

does anyone have any idea how many people typically apply to Bain (or Mck or BCG) during the Milkround? What percentage of these go through to 1st round, 2nd round, etc ?

chin up sour-grape! I just got to know from vault.com that the worldwide Bain's AC selection success rate is just 1 over 220 - and that is 0.45%!As a Liverpool fan, I say to you: You'll Never Walk Alone.

Yeh just got the old PFO.I have had interviews with Mckinsey and BCG but i get rejected by BAin.The whole milkround is one big lottery so people I really wouldnt care about it.

that's right... its a big lottery. bain is the smallest of the top 3 and hence able to be more selective given the low demand (due to small size) and huge supply of candidates. in fact, commentaries from vault.com and wetfeet distinguished bain as the most selective out of the 3.hence, i posit that if you were not selected by either mck or bcg for interviews - there is very little chance to get one from bain.

Interestingly, I got rejected by Mck and BCG but have a 1st round with Bain on wednesday. So what ever you want to say about 'bain being more selective' due to their smaller intake or what ever, it just proves it really is a lottery.
