Hi, I just got feedback from my McKinsey final round - rejected but mostly positive comments. Only area they claimed I needed to address was ability to answer questions regarding previous experience (eg- When did you sense a change of direction was needed....).Do you think this feedback is honest in terms of the real reason for rejection? The maths-test went seriously badly but they didn't mention this.. In fact, they claimed not to have the results to hand and said it wasn't that important.. Is this true?I will be re-applying in one years time (do you have to go through all the rounds again?). I'm now working at Deloitte, trying to build some consulting experience (even if it's not in a strategy position - I thought it was better to be somewhere than unemployed!!?.

I see no reason why they would lie to you. I mean, the worse news was really the rejection, and if you are a strong candidate they would want you to apply again in the future. So why would they give you the wrong reason for the rejection. That wouldn't make sense.If they commented on the experiences, take it as is. While I can't say that all the feedback given is specific to you, for the most part, the feedback generally is relevant to your candidacy. However, I wouldn't be surprised if some reasons were just randomly drawn up because the liasion didn't know the actual reasons. But with McKinsey's "feedback" mentality, i doubt this happens more than a handful of times.

Hi, I just wanted to ask how you found deloitte. I got rejected from McK too and I am considering Deloitte. By what you say it feels like it's simply a 'fill in' for trying for McK again. Are you doing the CIMA? Is it worth doing a year with one firm for then starting all over again at McK? thanks

JB Smith, can you tell us a bit more about your job at deloitte? what do you do, IT, SAP, CRM etc.Otherwise, I think these comments are just a bunch of crap. Personally I do not think that they are serius with these. Mostly it depends to the HR person you talk to, a personal-contact or something similar. Remember, you are just one of several 100/1000s in the queue. They just say: Next pls!That's why I am going for network,network and network. Then you can get real, honest feedback...in my opineon.
