Entry level salary all depends on the practice you want to join. Difference between MC and PC is about £20-25k, plus a bigger bonus.At PC or MC level, you will get a very competitive starting salary, but very meagre pay rises for the first 3 years or thereabouts

Think you'd do well to get that. PC normal range goes from 60k-80k depending on experience (and 12 years industry experience doesn't always translate to good consulting experience), highest I've heard is 85k. Bonus is practice dependent and the IT practices generally do pretty well, so would say anything from 20%-40% for a pretty decent year. For what it's worth, there's some research doing the rounds at the moment. Basically, all the HR depts of various companies (Deloitte, KPMG, Accenture etc.) get together every year and compare salares - they all pay about the same for each rank so it's really just a matter of fit.

To get 90K you need to be a very experienced MC. PCs average is 55-60K

Well I am a senior MC (with another firm) and I think I'm doing okay, no need for a payrise as yet. As a matter of fact I've left PA as a PC 3 years ago due to the lame wages ... and got quite a rise (35%) with another firm. It is notorious that PA basic is below average and often compensated by the promise of big bonuses. True if you end up in the right practice... otherwise no matter how good you are, no profit no bonus. Even more ... if you've met all your utilisation targets working on cross practice projects you're still stuck with your group results. This little game cost me personally a lot of money. I still know few people at PA ... maybe PCs make 60K when you include car allowance?

A lot has changed in 3 years and the company now pays pretty much the market rate, plus remains one of the few firms that pays a decent bonus. The ethos of the firm is still lower basic plus bonus but essentially the wage bill has gone up dramatically and the bonus has come down a bit. 3 years ago, quite a few practices didn't pay bonus as they lost money and were supported by others during the downturn. Most practices are pretty healthy these days and it looks like a record year for the firm.

Well yesterday I was speaking to a friend who'd been approached with regard to PA. He was told £50-65 plus package at PC and 65-80 plus package at MC.From personal experience both PC and MC can reasonably be on higher than that.

As with all firms, depends on person and experience! Consultants (below PC) earn over 50k and I earn a good bit more at PC as do many of my friends. As I say, highest goes up to 85k at PC.Market average for PC is about 75k at firms that don't pay bonus. PA pays bonus that depending on practice and personal performance can be very lucrative on top of your basic (i.e. people have been known to get 100%+ bonuses, although the norm can vary from 10%-40%). It can also be crap if you don't perform well, but that's fair enough to me.

I have just finished my interview at PA. CAn anyone tell me how soon wud they normally get back? Also from the mail thread, i presume 70K+ plus bonus is a good ask. Is this the starting salary at PA for PC? But what differentiates from a PC and MC at PA in terms of role n resposibilites? Wht is the starting sal for MC?

There are no hard starting salaries in any firm!A PC is essentially a senior consultant who will run assignments (or parts of), support business development, do assignment admin etc. They are still rewarded primarily on utilisation rather than sales, though they do have "shadow" sales targets to get them ready to step up.In addition to the above, an MC has a hard sales target that must be met every year, they also have line manager responsibilities. If you have no prior consulting experience, I'd expect you to come in as a PC as to throw someone in with a sales target from day 1 tends not to work.
