Dear all, I have a question that may sound silly but it´s not: what do you think is more demanding intellectually: a) Strategy Consulting, b) Implementation Consulting, c) Engineering, d) Law/other.I am doing a study about IQ requirements of different jobs, so any help would be deeply appreciated.

Pretty silly question. Sorry.Law requires no intellect, just an ability to bull*hit (if you think I'm lying, watch Liar Liar for a great insight into the profession).

I do apologise for my somewhat flippant comment earlier, but is your study not destined to deliver inconclusive results? I would hazard a guess at saying that the IQ of lawyers/strategy consultants/engineers at the top firms to be roughly on par, with IQ decreasing with the prestige/rank of the firm? Also, isn't the nature of an IQ test engineered (pun intended) to have biase towards engineers as they are more inclined to be regularly thinking about spatial arangements and numbers?

Ok so lets turn this very poor question into something interesting. Has anyone ever taken an IQ test online or otherwise, and what where your scores? I'll start off I got 135 from an online test

I'd suggest that this is not as dumb a question as some respondents have made it out to be. I'd be interested in finding out about Paul's results.Anon holds that it's all about the ability to BS. Probably some truth in that, but I put it to you that you cannot BS if you do not have some modicum of intelligence. And, for that matter, what is intelligence anyway? A number of studies have pointed out that IQ in and of itself is meaningless.Sometimes the people we look up to as "intelligent" have comparatively low IQs, while folks who are "a bit slow" have higher IQs. IQ and EQ (emotional intelligence quotient) in combination, along with an ability to apply theory and interpretation appropriately to whatever context (perhaps to bullsh*t) is what our perceptions of intelligence are often founded on.Anon might be right that the higher IQs can be found in the more reputable firms. I'd be surprised if this was a perfect correlation. As for using a Jim Carey movie to refute a valid question of study, well ... there are many ways to assess someone's intellectual dimensions.Paul, let us know how your study pans out.
