It's not completely out of the question, need more info on your background and what you want to do. If there is a match between the two then it's possible, given the right circumstances. e.g. if you want to move into a consulting or PM type role, then there are plenty of roles, and as long as you show an interest to learn a new industry then someone may take a chance on you. If you want to do Front Office or IBD work, then unless you're very junior and a star at what you're currently doing and could leverage joining a I-Banks Analyst programme, then the only viable option would be if you have some contacts in the industry or you do an MBA. I did the latter, having had 4 years IT consulting experience behind me, and now working in the IBD division of a bulge bracket I-Bank. So it's definently possible. My previous background, was FS, with specific focus on Capital Markets, so there was some correlation, but if you do an MBA, any deficiences in knowledge, will be quickly addressed by doing an MBA, especially at a top school. Doing an MBA was one of the best things that I've ever done, and I'm now reaping the benefits. Both in terms of my career, and I also met my wife on the MBA course. Not bad for a circa £100K investment!
