I have recently completed a BA in Law and am very seriously considering applying to a number of consultancy firms in the upcoming milkround. However, I am quite apprehensive that my lack of recent quantitative experience is going to stand heavily against me. Does anyone know if this is likely to be a major disadvantage?

dont worry dude - as long as you have a VERY strong business acumen. In my days at McKinsey some of the best EM's were engineers in fluid qantum mecchanics or geneticists! Hardly economic degrees!

Yeah.....but it's a pretty significant leap to compare "engineers in fluid qantum mecchanics [sic] or geneticists" and an arts major/lawyer. Engineers and geneticists have massive quant experience, arts majors and lawyers do not. So you didn't really answer P's question. It's a disadvantage, but not a major disadvantage. It depends on the firm, the type of consulting you want to do, and the school you went to.

No problem- the issue is not whether you already have all the consultantcy skills they are hiring for at grad level, its whether you are bright, have natural aptitude and will add to their team. I have 2 degrees in Russian and history, and am now a banking consultant. I may not be as financially astute as some of my colleagues but I understand the industry and the clients- Its about what you can do, not a box ticking exercise- be confident and good luck.
