A year into Capgemini i thought it might help those of you thinking of joining Capgemini to get some real insight into what’s going on.You may have read already on this post that the following.1. Heavy turnover of staff2. Heavily reliant on government projects3. Hierarchical4. Poor overall focus on consulting business V’s technology sales5. Lower than average payUnfortunately i have to report all are true based on my experience.I would not recommend Capgemini to those of you wishing to join consulting for the first time (a common recruitment target at the moment) or those looking to take the next step. Please save yourself the pain of working in some god awful government project in Telford with no sign of private sector work.

Hi Capgem ChapNow that you have raised this topic, let me add my experience. I joined as a fresh MBA graduate in Cap Consultancy and soon sent to Telford and got tangled in the bloody politics there. It was a horrible experience where every one trying to cover their back and bitching about every one else. And as C2s(consultant) I and 2 other new joiners soon realised we were slaves for every Principal Consultant, throwing work at us not bothing even to know if we had something else more pressing to do. Further more if you have to survive you have to dogtail or please(you can use any word you like here) a few senior members of the then OCD team who are mainly based in London Wardour Office. I am glad I left Cap, but it left a scar on my back so severe, when ever I hear of this company, It hurts me. Like the old slave trade, the masters are always in need of slaves, so all the new joners beware of Cap

(I hope) I am also waiting on offers for a couple of smaller firms - Am I better pesuing these avenues?

New StarterI do not want to scare you away from Cap, but it is always good to know some more experiences from other members. It might be a different story. But it has been my experience and that of my other friends that early in your life in Cap you have to start building up good connections and remain in the good books of a small strong group of senior consultants(again it depends on which solution line you are in). This sure was true in case if you were a member of OCD. In general in any company it is always good if you create a good impression amongst your seniors, but in Cap this is particularly important if you have to survive. I have seen some of my colleagues almost degrading this impression into schmoosing.

another cap on the way out

HiSorry to hear you have had the same negative experience of cap as myself.I cannot stress enough the poor work profile and general lack of potential (all government wins) within Capgemini. If I had my time again (and the benefit of this post) I would not have joined in the first place. For information you can judge the general mood by the mass exodus which is going on at the moment across all service lines. (reference the number of adverts for cap jobs on this and every other site at the moment)Hope you all make the right choice…
