Hi TonyNo, I'm not about to tempt you with Monster Mayhem or 18 inches of Angus beef. I was just wondering whether it would be useful to start a thread with user's evaluations of other forums available on the net. There do seem to be one or two problems with this one, but it might be more useful to give you some comparisons to play with than to hurl abuse at your (mostly excellent) work. Here's my opinion, for what it's worth:This forum has an excellent search facility. However, I'd like to see the thread with the most recent reply go immediately to the top of the board, and I'd like to see some kind of deterrent in place to reduce the (increasing) amount of spam.Roll on Friday (a city lawyers' forum abounding in immature gossip) has a useful signing in process, and instantly places the thread with the most recent reply at the top. However, threads expire after a few days and there is no search facility.Who knows of a forum that has all the positives and none of the drawbacks?

All three of the following have all the requirements and can be easily configured to fit the bill at low cost:1) PhpBB (free open source product, the best for customisability) - http://www.phpbb.com/ 2) vBulletin (most user-friendly platform, costs about 100GBP) - http://www.vbulletin.com3) Invision (top flight commercial tool, costs about 150GBP) - www.invision.comI use a lot of forums around the web and these three are the most common and have the most features and support.

Thank you for the suggestions. Our IT manager is evaluating each one of these solutions and we'll be looking to either commission changes to this solution or to implement one of these solutions.
