I don't understand why "DBA" should have the indefinite article "an" used for it, whether read or pronounced as an abbreviation or in full? The first point I believe is that the value of a DBA as with an MBA is solely related these days to the particular Business school from which it was awarded. Unless from one of the top 5 schools in Europe it will no longer have any value at all. In fact it may make it completely impossible for the holder to obtain any employment at all in most cases! Even a DBA from one of the top 5 schools will probably make employment more difficult than it would be without it, except for a teaching role or chair at a business school. The biggest problem is probably that (as with a PhD) the holder will inevitably expect something better than they should achieve without it, and they will be disillusioned when, like many MBAs also, they find that they will just end up with the same role and rewards as those without a DBA or MBA, and in many case more junior roles!
