arrived: 9.10spent day arguing with clients about requirements for tailoring a supposed off-the-shelf IT system. Got nowhere. temping in a computer software company for a week. So far so bad!!! Just been taking calls, browsing the web, did some reading and thinking ... then on the odd occasion I'm told things like ... the carpet fitters are coming in today, someones going to paint the kitchen on Friday and someone's coming at 4.30ish today to clean up. I'm just covering for someone for a measly week leaving on friday why don't they go and tell someone else? Anyway that's my day.

hardly!!! But that doesn't mean i'm thick either. I come from an graduate background about to embark on a postgraduate course but no-one is taking me seriously. Money is tight and in great need at the moment ... so i keep telling myself to keep the motivation alive and well.

Spent last night working until 0030 completing a report for our Director to go through with the client at 11am today. Total working hours = 16.5. Travelled to client site and sat round waiting for Director to conclude mtg with client. Discussed afterwards. Flew home. Total working hours = 1. Tomorrow? Re-do report. Total working hours = ??

3 hours meetings. 6 hours travel (4 without a seat on the train). 4 hours between meetings and waiting around for people late for meetings.Total effective working time 3 hours. Total time from leaving the house to returning 13 hours.

Yesterday- in at 7 for a teleconference. Back to back meetings from 8.30 to 4. No binding decisions made in any meetings, largely client posturing. Made impressed faces at how big and important they all are. Ate sandwich on way to solution presentation, for a client whose name I couldn't pronounce. Dropped Mayo on my trousers, spent the meeting holding my laptop case in front of myself. Drink with team. On tube at 8, home by 9 to discover the washing machine has flooded the basement.....

woke up at 0600. had my girlfriend give me a treat. went to jog on the machine in the room whilst watching the morning news. took shower and went back to bed. got up at 13:00, had a coffee with a strong shot and went into the office - i had been at a 'client meeting'. sat down and interviewed a manager - thought he was good. offered him a job. then went back and fired another one to make my headcount stand. played mini putt in my office. left the work at 7, ate with my second girl at the Ivy. Went home. I love being a partner

I'm on the beaaaach!!!!Woke up about 9, took a shower, had breakfast. Switched on the TV and my laptop. Surfing the internet all day long. Trying to force myself to find a new job, because my current employer is likely to kick me out pretty soon. Yeah, i know, i'm a lazy bastard.
