permanant contract

Hi, I have over 7 years of experience in technology consulting. Currently, I am a perm. employee of one of the leading consulting firm in London. I am contemplating a move into freelance consulting. Ideally, I am looking to work in similar firms in a "permanant contract" position. How do I approach firms with such proposition. Most of the job adverts (the ones looking for skill sets similar to mine) are for permanant position.

To use euro-English, I think you are a little confuse, no?It is not clear to me that you have a clear strategy in mind. Do you understand what freelance consulting entails? You need to appreciate the tax implications of such a move. Will you join an umbrella company, will you set up your own Ltd. Company or will you work on a PAYE basis?Seeking out "permanent contracts" is illogical. If you wish to work somewhere permanently, become or stay as an employee. However, to really realise the benefits of independent consulting, you need to develop a contractor's mindset and build relationships with multiple clients. You need to also understand IR35. Unless you wish to be paid by PAYE (which would be akin to throwing away your cash), you should establish your own company, and in so doing understand clearly the "disguised employment" implications of IR35 and freelancing. Highly recommended information resource - www.pcg.org.ukAlso - golden rule - GET YOUR CONTRACTS REVIEWED. The PCG has links with companies who can do this....

Pablo, thanks for your response.Yes, I have done research on these options i.e terms Umbrella company, PAYE, limited company.I also understand the IR35 implications. When I say permanant contract, I meant a long-term (e.g. 1.5-2 years) contract, so that I dont need to look for jobs every 3-6 months.Even after all the deductions, charges (by Umbrella company), the money that one gets as a contractor is almost twice that of a perm. So, again, can anyone guide me as to how to approach companies with such a proposition? Many Thanks.
