Hey guys, I've got a little bit of a dilemma and I'd appreciate your opinions on the matter. I'm a recent graduate btw.Several months ago, I accepted an offer to join a tier 2 consultancy firm for a technology scheme. I had very little idea on my worth as an individual at this time and was really glad to have a decent graduate position. My main focus at this time was to get a 'brand name' on my CV and start my professional career. I (foolishly) thought little about my long term career strategy. Having said that, I don't mind technology work, quite the contrary, I'm a coder who enjoys problem solving that requires programming logic. However, I recently began thinking of 'long term' goals (because now I'm not worried about having a job) and came to the conclusion that I might really like high level strategy consulting - particularly on helping firms enter new markets or improving their margins in existing markets.I now have several offers from similarly ranked consulting firms for roles in strategy/pricing. Unfortunately, I wouldn't feel comfortable taking these offers given the fact that I've already accepted the original offer. Also, I'm open to the possibility that I might prefer working in technology than strategy. My question is, if I start as a techie and decide to switch to strategy afterwards... how difficult will this be? Is it possible to keep my opinions open by doing a relevant post-graduate degree whilst working in tech? Or does it require a more 'hard reset' like an MBA? Or is it just a matter of talking with a performance manager when the time is appropriate?Don't get me wrong, I won't be constantly focusing on 'switching' to a different career path while I'm working on tech. I fully intend to focus on the tasks given to me while I am hired to do them; I just want to keep my options open given the fact that I have no real idea what my 'end goal' is.Christ I have no idea how other peers my age know what they want to do with their lives. Anyway, your opinions are much appreciated!
