Hey, I did strategy consulting specifically in Telecom and Infrastructure verticals for several years. The strategy for wireless telecom is really about reshaping the industry into being able to handle 4G+ traffic. Wired telecom is a more entrenched laggard and corporate strategy is less used in that world. The (mostly) global industry took a big hit in the late 90s with the telecom boom/bust when capacity was built out without much traffic. The biggest issues are:-data and traffic monetization-content creation and distribution-churn reduction-capex, opex improvementYou will be doing a lot of operational strategy and improving margins - and may get to work on cool projects related to connected devices if you are lucky. More later.
Bit outdated. Some examples:-BT going into BT Sport and also mobile-Vodafone buying wireline/cable players-Etc.The biggest issue I see within telecoms is..... people with no experience in telecoms or its underlying issues..... coming in and making a mess of things. Then, ppl like me have to clean up the s**t left behind.
