Hey Guys!I have just graduated and am currently running two small businesses. I applied for McKinsey and BCG on a bit of a last minute whim as I am very interested in working for them and out of genuine interest as to whether they would get passed the CV screening.I managed to get through to the PST test for McKinsey and a first round interview with BCG! The BIG issue is that I have now realised the time and effort required to excel and give yourself a chance of actually getting an offer! Does anyone know or have previous experience on what these companies policies are regarding asking to defer or postpone the interviews? Do they just reject you in this case or is that ok? Also would it be worse to postpone/ not make the interview or go and try and probably perform under par? Thanks in advance for your help!Bill

Yes, these things are a big time investment. When I were a kid, I skipped applying for a number of large firms (Big 4 type, not MBB) simply because I couldn't be bothered to fill out their application forms (which had dozens of questions like "Write about a time when... in 1000 words or less"). Can't you make the time for this? What are we talking here? Like 10 hours prep? Even if it's 20 hours prep, can't you make an hour or so a day for a fortnight? And surely 3-4 hours prep is more like it (which even then is quite a lot for just one single application)? Just go to bed an hour later each night for a week?

I have read to really stand a good chance you need 100 hours prep for the case interviews. Ah!Gonna go for it and do my best!
