I suspect that you are in a position to answer your own questions...Are you alone in your low utilisation? Have you turned down any assignments?Is your practice regularly losing bids to competitors?If answers to any of the above are yes, start being concerned.I would say it is highly unusual for new hires to be on the bench for months; as a new hire you should expect to get experience (and hope to) outside your current specialism - why else would you have become a consultant? I would advise you to jump on the next opportunity and use your support network to help you get up to speed as quickly as possible - if this does not appeal why not think about a return to industry?I hope this helps.
