Hello Career Coach and anyone else who has any ideas on it, I have just finished an industrial psychology degree course and i'm interested in finding out more about career coaching. I know one coach and this person is great and has given me some advice, but was silent on some details such as how much career coaches make, or how do we start getting clients. Honestly though, the money issue was the burning question that we all wanted to ask her throughout the course but we just could not bring ourselves to!!!! Otherwise, to get started which are the good consultancies (if any)?

From what Ive experienced, the best career coaches are those with MBAs. They are able to graps all aspects that involve an individual in his or her career. More importantly not only have they studied similar content but they have also pondered the different career paths and have a vivid idea of the different type of demands and lifestyle. There are a couple of companies that function in the UK although its still a small market. British executives do not seem to want us. However in the States there are numerous firms. Many blue chips that hire us are paranoid with confidentiality and thus we are not allowed to advertise.Personally my rates depends on the individual and their own plan. This field is similar to private banking - you bring in your own clients through referal. As I'm a non resident and most of my clients prefer my method of meeting me abroad, I am also able to save on tax. If you do well for yourself you can hit 500 K tax free at 35.

Thanks, It's annoying that it's so hard to find information about more 'niche' careers (if i can call them that without causing offence)IP
