Having worked for a consulting firm does not necessarily help you get into a top US B-school. What's more important is that you demonstrate career progression -- increasing levels of pay and responsibility with your current employer. I suggest you stay with current employer, work on challenging engagements, and make sure you get promoted once or twice. US B-schools typically try to have a well-rounded class...which means they try to balance between male/female, engineers/finance/liberal arts types, ex-MC/ex-IB/ex-industry, nationalities, etc. Whether or not a Chinese background would help or hurt will depend on how many applications they receive from Chinese nationals relative to other nationalities. By that token, being a MC could hurt if they suddenly receive a rash of applications from ex-MCs. The last thing US B-schools want is a class made of white, male, ex-management consultants!!
