Hi,I've had a look through the forums and seen some interesting posts, but I'm still struggling to find much to help me make a decision between the offers I have received.I have offers from LogicaCMG, Atos Origin and EDS. To me all three seem good, the starting salaries are similar, and locations are all fine. What I'd really like to know is a bit more inside info, what is the training like for each? How do the salaries progress? Which is likely to have the best career progression? Which would you pick and why? Anything else?!?Any help and tips, much appreciated!TS

Hi TS,Well done on the offers. It's always going to be tough to choose between those three, as they really are very similar, especially when you add in the factor of graduate roles always being slightly random depending on the postings you get.Salary/career progression is near-identical for equivalent grades of staff - there's a lot of turnover and interchange of staff between them so things stay fairly comparable and competitive. Likewise, training for all three is functional, internal stuff rather than developmental or qualification-based. IMHO, progression is too heavily based on time-served rather than meritocracy in these big IT firms, but you can always strike out on your own as a contractor and escape the hamster wheel. There's not a lot to choose between on the info above (helpful, eh?). I'd pick the company which seems to have the most interesting contracts or seems to you to be winning the best work. If you've got the chance to pick a major contract or two to be based within then go for it as that'll be the biggest influence on the quality of the job.

Thanks for your advice. At least from what you've said I won't be making a huge mistake picking one above the others!Any other info/views would still be appreciated though.TS

Is your offer from Atos Origin or Atos Consulting? What part of EDS is your offer from (i.e. is it EDS Consulting Services)? What stage of your career are you at?

All three are sh*t. Try applying to Accenture or Deloitte.

Yeah, because Accenture is obviously such a great place. And Deloitte is such a hothouse of talent...lol

Atos are a joke (second rate consultancy), Logica are a cok-up (check out their work for the NHS) and EDS (the no hopers) have lost major contracts to Accenture (Inland Revenue).
Rather than subjective opinions about each of these firms why not look at some objective metrics like revenue, profit, turnover. Number and variety of clients. Ranking in Top 100 employers etc. Speed of career progression.
If you did, you will see that Accenture and Deloitte are streets ahead. They even pay more and that is the bottom line.
You are allowed your opinion but don't deny me mine.
