I've just been offered a pretty attractive package from EY's Financial Services performance improvement team. It sounds like a great opportunity to help them grow their service line. Can anybody give me any insider info or experiences?

Don't know about FS, but BAS get a very bad press on here. There are rumours that BAS and FS will merge in the next year or so, in which case I'd tread carefully before jumping. Also, there are huge question marks over the sustainability of EY's consulting (oops ... I meant advisory) model

I completely disagree with the above posting. EY BAS has found a true gap in the market. They have taken a step back from technology led consultancies (acn, ibm etc) and are trying to fill the gap between the strat houses and the formers. To be honest, they are going very well. They were even featured in last weeks Times, a full article detailing thier massive growth targets of reaching 2bn by 2010.It sounds like a great, dynamic and truly exciting place to be - it doesnt happen every day that one gets to join a start up within an exisiting company. If i had the option i would jump for it. Although i like exciting challenges, and shy away from tried and tested methodologies. good luck

Thanks all. I am currently with Deloitte and have been for 5 years (surviving all the changes!) so the move to EY to help build an area while focusing on my chosen industry is very attractive. One frustration with Deloitte is the potential to end up on a huge public sector job for years just because you are "available" so the sector alignment is a BIG attraction. Any further insights much appreciated.

Don't they use the very same business model that Arthur Anderson had?Given that BAS and FS are staffed at a senior level almost exclusively by IBM and Accenture rejects, it is likely that EY will end up with a similar atmosphere in no time.

I have been meeting with a number of the E&Y BAS people - and seems to be a mix of background not just IBM and Accn ....I have debating the option of Cap Gemini or E&Y at the moment - tricky one

That EY have struggled to win any public sector work within the current climate (they "strategically withdrew" from that as one of their target markets) is a pretty good indicator of how well things are going.

Hi Anon.Be aware that these industry lines attachments are suggestive only, and that utilization demands will drive which job you will be staffed on. In that respect, EY are no different than Deloitte. Also, you need to ask yourself about BAS's stated ambition to grow their public sector presence.Would moving from Deloitte be a case of jumping from the frying pan to the fire ? You may be best off giving BAS some time to develop a commercial footprint, rather than taking a leap into the dark.My own feeling would be to go for an established brand, with a rapid growth plan like Cap Gemini, or PAGood luck with your job hunt

People I meet at interviews seemed really good, mix of backgrounds, very keen. Who wants to be an add on to a big IT firm........Didn't mess me about (unlike Cap Gemini - which was a total waste of time).
