Hi All,Would appreciate feedback from members on my situation and options. I recently resigned from a strategy consulting firm as an Associate. I was due for promotion to Senior Associate in about 6 months. I now have a couple of options to select from - (a) Associate at a similar firm (think ATK, RB, OW etc.) with tenure credit meaning I have 1 year to promotion and (b) Manager (Senior Associate) at a firm that's not really a strategy consultancy (think Capgemini etc.). I'm in my mid-30s, joined strategy consulting quite late so am concerned that I need to think about career progression as a priority.Pros of option (a) are more interesting work, better brand, smarter peoplePros of option (b) are immediate career progression and more money in the short term (next year or two)Thoughts?Thanks in advance

I believe you just answer your question yourselves. You should go with what you want. Though it is hard for me to believe a strategist is undecided :)

If you believe your career is still on an upward trajectory, take the investment opportunity (a).If you believe you are at the highest plateau, cash your chips in and maximise income (b).

As strat firms are finding it harder by the day to justify an independent existence, and are one by one falling into the hands of the big names (MBB excepted) then get there now.
