I doubt its the case they've got a blanket ban on recruitment. Recruitment across all of the Big 4 is dependent on current levels of utilisation within teams and making sure that existing team members are all busy. Once they are certain they can keep more bodies busy then they'll soon bring more in.

@maxcg ; thanks for your point of view... which is quite rational, but what I am hearing are different stories from the recruiting team and the actual practice team members @longtimelurker : thanks for sharing your exp, how are you planning to manage this further ?

I'm still happily employed with a competitor so in no rush - I will be a little peeved if it comes to nothing as I've wasted time in prep, interviews, assessment centres etc.Longtimelurker

Yep there's a hiring freeze unless you meet a strict set of business requirements.... sthg like everybody in the team can demonstrate 90% util for the past 3 months, and a pipeline to go with it.

Yes the current recruitment freeze is strictly policed. Recruiters try to get around it through other parts of the firm, eg risk assurance which competes internally with consulting, and is growing several times faster than consulting although from a smaller base.

I've done some work with our RAS practice and there's often a fag paper (or less) between what they do and what we do. Honestly not sure why they aren't part of Consulting. I think you could definitely sell it as such on your CV.
