JI had an interview with them this week in F&PM section. I am transferring from industry but the people I have meet seem very positive and keep talking about turning work away due to lack of resource and wishing to do the "right work with the right people". I believe the F&PM area is headed up by an ex-IBMer (PwC) and I am told that IBM F&PM was/is well thought of.Why your interest ?Any thoughts / comments welcome ?

F&PM are is headed by an ex-PwC / IBM partner, who oversaw the decline of IBM BCS's Finance and Cost Mgt practice. Hardly an auspicious record !

Check out vault.com. You'll get more responses there. For what its worth though, from what I hear, there is a real old boys network from legacy PwC Consulting in both BAS and FS. Here in KPMG consulting, we have the same problem with former Atos / Bearing Point staff. An old boys network makes it a lot harder for an outsider to break into. If these former PwC guys are really so hot, you need to ask yourself why they didn't make it at IBM.

PwC Consulting used to be the premier Fincance and Cost Mgt consultancy in the market, in terms of employee size and market share. Since the IBM takeover, the FCM practice has lost most of its old PwC staff, due to poor quality of new recruits, lack of investment in training and salary increases, and poor quality of work (mainly huge scale public sector PMO jobs). Many of the people who were responsible for this decline now work for E&Y BAS and FS. Expect a similar trend there. In terms of decent Finance Transformation consultancies, try PwC or Deloitte. Other non-accounting firms, that are winning lots of interesting work are Atos, Cap Gemini, and also PA Consulting. Good luck in your job search.

Hi - if you have time it'd be worth trawling through a search of the forum archives. There've been similar questions and other comments that you'd find useful fairly recently.I can only speak from the perspective of someone who turned down an E&Y offer, but I did get a strong feel for a "me-too" culture, lots of people without a clue hanging onto coat-tails, hoping to hitch a lift on the big launch rather than proactively developing and delivering business. It sounds from others' comments that that could be an effect of the mass migration of one particular group. It didn't feel like a consultant-friendly environment at any rate.

The only person I know working in E&Y is a young lady who had an affair with a married Associate Partner in IBM, and who had to leave quickly once it became common knowledge.Sort of shows you the calibre of people that E&Y are attracting !

That's a bit low to tar an entire firm with the same brush.Intruiging though - any clues as to who the mystery pair were?

Could you tell me at what level you were interviewing and the offer you got. I'm interviewing at consultant level and want to know what to expect.
