Hey all,I will shortly start working for PA in Sweden and was just curious,.. what is the culture at PA when it comes to dresscode and appearance?Is it towards the conservative "british" style with consultants expected to wear suit and tie or is it more casual?Does it basically depend on the client (will most likely be one of the larger banks in the scandinavian region) where you dress "slightly better than the client"?Do I need to stock up on ties before joining in a month?Saludo!

I come originally from Finland and can say that in general the dresscode in the Nordic countries is a lot more relaxed and casual than in the UK. You won't see as many men wearing suits in Sweden as you see in London. However, it may be more formal in conservative industries like finance. As always it is better to be over- than underdressed.

First of all: the "slightly better than the client" is always a good guidiance. Then 2ndly: What matters is a combination of what the client/company/your manager expects and what you feel comfortable with. Personally I would say as the other response on this site - better to error on the formal side; suit/shirt/tie is always a good starting point. Plus a practical consideration from my personal experience ("you know you have been in consulting too long when optimising you morning clothing procedures ;-): Suit/Shirt/Tie may be slightly more formal - but it is sooo easy - if you are trying to dress "smart casually" there is a lot of choice each morning - it is a lot easier to limit the choice to "which suit, which shirt and a matching tie" ;-)- and welcome on board; i hope you - as I did - will find that PA is a nice and challenging place to work.
