Can anyone advise on whether EDS are worth considering for a consulting position - particularly within their UK Government practice. Thanks

I used to work for EDS Consulting Services. Yes they are worth considering, especially for public sector work, I have a lot of respect for the people working there. However they're not particularly well recognised as a name in consulting, so not that great for your CV.

Depends on what you're after (as ever).Upsides are: large business, recognisable name, clearly defined market space, obvious competitors/opportunities to job swap in future, opportunities to network internally, big stable contractsDownsides are: large business, consulting very heavily tied to IT and outsourcing service offerings, lot of bad press especially around the quality of the government work, mixed quality of staff, big contracts mean little variety - you can often be consulting to the same client and staffed to the same project for several years - so more like contracting than consulting
