Natasha, I'd say you stand a better chance with smaller firms that have less structured hiring processes. They may consider each case carefully rather than having a list of requirements you can't get past. Another option is to try some contract work, if you find a relatively simple assignment (based on your skills/abilities/languages etc.), many companies will need someone temporarily and asap.Good luck.
