It's difficult to know for sure. They can be communication errors (like Chinese whispers), tired people at the end the week (typers-cramp types), comedians looking for an alternative audience etc.My guess would be the communication scenario. The trouble with some recruitment processes is that the candidate is made to feel too inferior by an agent or less generally by the actual employer. This reduces normal communication to an impossibility (i.e. it's not a two-or-three process but a one way process).It is easy to get too sceptical, but it makes more sense to get back to the agent/hr contact to clear up communication errors ASAP, or to reflect at the weekend on a lucky escape! The India anecdote is bolly brillaint. If I had been hiring in India I'd have considered him. If some recruitment agents want to act like the sacred cows of the consulting industry, then just drive round them!
