The Apprentice

Is it me or did those management consultants on The Apprentice, Manni and whats her face give the profession a bad name? They knew nothing about project management or dealing with people - does anyone actually know them, where they used to work and whether they will ever work in the industry again??Apologies for the superficial posting but we as consultants are always so busy that I thought some light relief would help. Am I also the only one who shouts at the TV when those contestants fail terribly at the easy tasks given...

I totally agree. Both appear incompetent but I will give them the benefit of being under extreme pressure of TV!!! Interesting websites - will be interesting to hear from clients/colleagues who have worked with either.Must admit - I work at CapG. www.alexatilley.comhttp://www.the2ndtier.com/ (Mani)

Good on the appropriately named 2ndtier and CG for allowing their staff to go onto this circus.I doubt that any quality consultantcy (such as the Big 4, IBM, or PA) would allow their staff the time off to participate in this Big Bruvver type nonsense.

Yes thats right, IBM is such a quality consultancy. What planet are you from? PA and 'the Big 4' are obviously leagues ahead of Capgemini as well?! As someone who has worked with 2 of the big four and Capgemini, I can tell you Capgemini wins hands down.

PA would probably let you go on something like this- but put a clause in your contract saying a)you had to win b) everything you did must be compliant with the principles of top down thinging and c)they would take a cut of all future earnings when you were rich and famous...

I'd like to point out that Alexa on The Apprentice was a factor (among others) for me turning down an offer from CapGemini recently. I wouldn't want to work anywhere that not only employs people of such low calibre but allows them to claim association with the firm on national television.

I work with Alexa and she is a very good consultant. If she'd been hired by that moron Sugar then I think it would be worse. Do you think that the qualities he looks for like brown nosing and belittling colleagues make a good consultant? We've given her plenty of stick for the melons thing though :0)

I'm surprised that cg would let her go on it, in the first place. Although there is no such thing as bad publicity, as one of their 'fast tracked' consultants, what must clients be thinking when they are considering hiring cg for engagements? I am a consultant myself and am thinking what on earth were the management team thinking?
