#0 Applications: how long should they take?

Hi all I've got 3 years of big-4 consulting experience. I feel my CV is fairly strong and certainly geared towards a number of the jobs currently being advertised on Top-Consultant. I started applying for positions elsewhere in January and haven't had any rejections as yet, BUT have not progressed further than first rounds at this stage - frustrating given that its now March. I've been asked to second round interviews / assessment days by 3 places, these are through late March and into April. Add to that the one (big 4) firm who have called me twice to tell me that they will be reviewing my CV in the 'weeks to come' before being offered a first interview and I'm a little disbelieving about my experiences. Given that I applied directly to 6 companies in the first 2 weeks of the year, I am finding it incredibly frustrating that it has taken these large consultancies many weeks to even read my cv, and then even longer to schedule interviews. I thought there was a 'push to recruit' happening, yet I am just being met with inefficient and slow recruitment procedures across the board. I think its a really poor show from organisations who should have better procedures and recruiting capacity.Does this ring true with anyone else on this board?CheersAndy

I agree some of the recruitment processes are very poor. I applied for one in October had first interview in February and have my second interview in three weeks time.Worse was my application to Accenture. Heard nothing for 3 months. Phoned them up and was told: "You were marked on the computer to invite for interview a few weeks ago but the person who did it has left so it was not actioned".

Same boat. Though ACN's email(confirming the date for my second interview) clearly states that they will get back to me with their decision in 10 working days after the interview, it has been a month now, with not even an acknowledgement of my repeated emails. Is this the image they want to project to prospective employees ? Very Disappointed with them.

yep.. its been the same for me and most organisations still think demand is greater than supply so they don't seem to manage the candidate expectations well. Its frustrating but also illuminating in clarifying those i would not wish to work for.

Accenture was horrible--no better in the US or Canada either. No leadership, responsibility, or exection in HR... makes me wonder what their quality of work is like...
