Heres a quetion for you all can you stay in consulting after getting married?I am getting married next year - at the moment no issues.The only issue will be travel when i get married i ideally need to be home 80% of the time. My fiance understands that i may have to work late for certain periods of time when we get married.Cheers

Getting a consulting role with only 20% travel ( 1 day a week) is generally down to luck and certainly difficult to sustain long term. That said, if you're working for a niche player that specialises in a client base that is located within a small area ( like investment banks in the city of London) this is certainly possible. Generally, the larger the organisation the more difficult it is to avoid more than 20% travel.

Yes of course you can consult and be married. You can also be a banker, an accountant, a lawyer... There isn't legislation on this any more you know. Why do you need to stay at home 80% of the time? Are you marrying a controlling psychopath? Presumably your intended knew what you did when you met?!!

Thanks for ur comments...basically spoke to my 2 be wife and i knw she not goingto be happy if i not most of the time...i kind of agree cos then whats the point of getting married if we not going to c each other most of the time. What we agreed is that she got to be flexible and 2 days away and 3 home is okay...but i just wondering what happens if i on an assignment for 3 months and home weekends! I can see arguments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I now thinking if this should be on a marriage site?What everyone elses views on this!?

If u can only communicate via text msg, then ur lkly 2 have a v shrt career n consulting, so a 3 day wk wont be a prob

Thomas - my message on topconsultant.com was to communicate and if i used abbrivations, i dont see a problem.But i really do think with your interpersonals skills...you arent doing very well.
