Hi all,I am in the application process to accenture - business systems and integration consulting graduate scheme. I am thinking of going into the communications and high tech business group...is this a good operating group to go for and what are the main projects and locations they work in. What operating groups do others reccomend.

CHT generally based out of the thames valley: reading slough newbury etc. A few projects allow you to have an apartment there, but most exp3ect you to commute from london daily and work friday at the client site- quite draining! Major clients are the mobile fone operators and the cable comapnies.

Sounds cliched but... go for whichever area most interests you. I think comms and high tech is a great area to work in. If you're going to be commuting long hours everyday (which can happen with any business group tbh) it might as well be for something you enjoy.

After joing the graduate scheme, i was placed in C&HT though initially i did not have any preference. However after finding out the sort of work i may be doing as a new analyst in C&HT (testing, testing & more testing) i decided to move over to governmnet. thats not to say you may get onto projects with really interesting roles, but rule that out in the first 6 months as you're raw nad they will give you tiddy winkle roles to get experience. In Governmnet where i am now, though initially as a new analyst i may still have to do some testing roles, i think i may enjoy hte work in the long run given. At hte end of the day, research into the typical work you may be doing, whtere the actual operating group is of interest to you and dont be scared that you wont get to do any work outside C&HT as you can move (contrary to opinions i have read) in hte first year if you dont like your operating group.
