I went through the hiring process with PWC for senior manager position back in March/April and had strong feedback at the time however was told that they are on a hiring freeze for senior positions. Can anyone validate this? Any views on when this is likely to lift? I still need to go through the partner interview but have no idea when or if this might happen.

Why were they interviewing people if they have a hiring freeze?

I've no idea - I assume the freeze was put in place during the process. I've heard their recruitment is fairly disorganised. I'm going through a recruiter so wanted to see if there was any other news about what's happening at PWC.
Why were they interviewing people if they have a hiring freeze?
Happened at (at least) one of the other Big 4 as well. Pissed off a lot of people, not just candidates but also people waiting on a referral bonus!

The night is long, and full of terrors. While we are on the GOT quotes..This has been going on for some time now. PwC was getting around the hiring freeze by offering fixed term contracts, but of course that just means a disposable workforce when things get tight...

Unfortunately this hiring freeze happens quite often with the Big4 firms; they still interview often times to build a pipeline and also because they are unaware that HR will call a freeze depending on utilization numbers and recent engagements being sold.In general PWC's hiring has slowed down in a number of areas since their acquisition of Booz & Co.My advice would be to drop the HR personnel emails every few weeks because it could turn around very quickly once the "freeze" is up.

The freeze has very little to do with the Booz aquisition as the numbers coming across in the UK are really pretty small. The recruitment campaign PwC had/have was running at an extremely high temo for the lat 9-10months and brought a significant number of people in the door. The process of 'assimilating' the large number of new joiners as well as the typical summer slowing of new deals being formalised means that there is a temporary halt on across the board recruitment. However recruitment is continuing and will pick up but expect it to be more targeted in relation to grade and competency/industry.

Hi Guys,I'm based in Sydney and last Friday had a call from PwC Sydney office for a position I applied earlier. I was told that it's the initial phone screening and will be invited for another round of competency based interview within next two weeks. So now should I just wait? Or should I call back and ask if there is any update for me? Please advise.RegardsSahrear

This reminds of when my colleagues email me and follow up with an instant message 5 minutes later chasing me for the email they sent 5 minutes earlier.

They said they would get back to you "within 2 weeks". If you haven't heard back within 1 week, you can probably guess what the outcome is. If you haven't heard back by the 26th, then you pretty much KNOW what the outcome is.
