Hi I've been made an offer to join Atos Technology Consulting with a good package too. I'm keen to understand from anyone:- What is Atos like as an organization?- How do they compare against their competitors?- Do they have interesting work?- Do they pay bonuses twice a year and are they any good?- Grading structure?- Development and promotion prospects?Any information would be good. Many thanks

Aren't these the people behind the awful and totally broken govt software that was meant to determine whether or not people are 'disabled enough' to claim benefits? Wouldn't go near them.(Though I guess it isn't much better for other, more prestigious consultancies either. They just have better PR.)

Former Atos Consulting Employee, in summary I would say there are way better companies out there. In response to StumblingBlock's comment about broken software/disabled, thats an un informed comment. I agree though that I wouldnt go near them again. - What is Atos like as an organization? That depends on what part of the Organisation you are working for. Atos Consulting UK is a small (200-300) part of the group. Tech Consulting about 30. SI, MS are way bigger and where the real money to the company comes from. Consulting is like that child whose parents have built in them great confidence in what they can achieve but really is limited by so many factors that they aren't even aware about. I left this year and there was a wave of movement by many who felt Consulting wasnt really pulling their weight in comparison to competitors. Plus the pay is really not good. - How do they compare against their competitors? They have a vision to become a Tier one firm. Not a chance. They dont stack up to the bigger firms in their space, and are losing ground to Tier 2 firms like Capgemini, Cognizant.- Do they have interesting work? Most of their work seems to be of the back of SI or MS. This is sad as Tech Consulting does have some brilliant guys but the Partners and Associate partners havent been really succesful (so far) in convincing really big name clients. The biggest issue I had was that there were very few long term projects. 2 weeks, 1 month, my longest was 3 months. So be prepared to REALLY move around. And then getting on projects, well, if you live in London, are really good at selling yourself, not picky on what sort of projects you want, then you may get a number of fairly routine projects. If you are an Enterprise Architect that would be another plus. They were ALWAYS utilised.- Do they pay bonuses twice a year and are they any good? HA! They paid something, but dont expect to be impressed. And it depends on what level you got.- Grading structure? Assistant Consultant(1-3), Consultant(4), Senior Consultant (5), Executive Consultant (6), Principal Consultant (7), AP(7+), Partner.- Development and promotion prospects? Development is up to you, the offerings are not bad really as long as you are willing.Promotion, as long as you are utilised over the target level, have enough excellent feedback from colleagues and clients, are known to the Partners you can get promoted within a year. But it depends on the level you join as the higher you get on the targets to meet can be a bit harder to meet.

I've worked here. the good package is because they're an awful firm - they've had lots of leavers at Snr Mgr / AP levels recently. They have occasional sparks of genius but not enough to drive a full-on consulting business.Jobs are largely government led, with Retail and FS coming in behind. The consulting business is run by an entirely operational CEO who is fixated on utilisation without thinking about the business strategy and offerings to the market. Also they do an awful lot of pretty slideware with no / little real delivery experience behind then - even more so than the average consulting firm.If you got options then consider the other tier 2 providers - as these guys are falling into tier 3 at the moment.
