I guess sometimes they might get a bit of cash in the form of a "golden handshake" (for senior non-equity staff) although, these days, in the case of a partner, I think that it's more likely they'll pay into the consultancy if anything. I don't think they often get gifts as such... maybe a bottle of champagne or something might be appropriate, but a warm welcome is usually the most likely thing they'll get.A congratulations card would probably be nicely received too.I think that, at that level, it's more about the welcome to the firm/partnership than the gifts.

back in the old days at Andersen the speech at the new partners' dinner invariably included the long-awaited line "welcome to the Firm". gave good insight as to how the non-partners were regarded ;)
