Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and London. Any recruiters you'd recommend for Supply Chain or project management for consultant levels? I'm interviewing/interviewed at Cognizant, Deloitte and Accenture but am not satisfied with the pace of the process and want to continue looking. Any good recruiters and/or firms that have a quicker process? All the best, but please--please--only top consultants respond. Top. Also Tip-Top can comment, but not medium consultants. How did you even get in here, you medium consultants? Pshhhh

ignoring your ungainly attempt at comedy, you'll find that unless you have an incredibly strong/niche position the recruitment process is always a lengthy one. it takes time to sort the wheat from the chaff.i can recommend Consulting Point from my experience

I promise I've given up on any further attempt at comedy as that fail seems to have overshadowed the rest of the post. Mars, do you have any recommendations about the direction to head in? Thanks for the Consulting Point tip, Rich.

Mars, appreciate the honesty. I don't mean to take too much of your time, but do you believe smaller consultancies have shorter processes? I'm eager to work and didn't mean to come off as a witless junior being critical of the UK hiring system--just looking for some help starting and growing. Again, very appreciative of any input that this community can provide.

bluesuit, apologies for only being a lowly junior consultant... i recently went through the experienced hire recruitment process for *Big4*. around the same time i was put forward for an industry position by another recruiter.(to give context - i have about 1 year of consultancy/outsource experience but 5+ years professional)both had the same amount of hoops to jump through - paper sift, aptitude testing, initial screening interview, selection interview, senior manager interview. the industry job offer came through slightly (a few days) quicker but this was because the company was extremely keen. end to end the process was upwards of 3 months - this was mainly because i am currently in a job so was not always able to attend the first available date for interview.the post-acceptance bit takes some time though - *Big4*'s screening process takes 4 weeks and you can only start on the first monday of a month.where have you moved to london from? i was initially considered for a london role but managed to persuade them to let me work out of one of the regional offices.Andrew Collins at Ronin recruitment is also a good guy - I think he works with KPMG among others.

RichI'm a lowly junior as well, apologies are from my corner for having ineffective sarcasm in my initial post. All inputs are welcome and you've been the most helpful member of the community on this thread to date. Again thanks for the direction, I'll try your lead. Five years industry experience isn't anything to sniff at. How did you find your industry work experience compared to consulting?

What is your issue with a protracted recruitment process? Surely you should be looking at where you want to work - and if it takes you 6 months to get an offer from that particular firm, then 'job's a goddun'?

To your question about where I've moved from, I'm actually a foreign born non-European. I'm trying to settle into London and have moved her to be with my Significant Other. Because she's working here I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to move to another regional office.

Smithy, you're right that the fit is incredibly important and I haven't lost sight of that. I'm just running low on savings and London is the most expensive city in the world in 2014 by one survey. Sounds like I've signed up for the process and I'll have to deal with the timeline. I'll try and focus on finding a good fit and might look at some temp work to help pay the bills. Hate not contributing is the only reason I'm in a rush.

Smaller firms can be as protracted in their selection and decision making process as the larger firms, sometimes even more so; they are taking on a bigger risk with each hire and usually cannot carry a bench. To survive they usually also need to be quite deep in a niche, and in turn this can give individual managers within the business a distorted view of both fit and the weight of their own opinion in the decision making process. Larger firms usually have more checks and balances - you wont be vetoed out by one individual. Also ask yourself whether you would rather join on the back of a positive, weighted decision or a rushed contingency? Quick to enter, quick to exit.Sounds like you need to stay focused, and just keep your other half involved. You have made a significant commitment/sacrifice to join your SO in London, so they will be mindful of that. I doubt that was a rushed decision either.

Judging by your command of English, are you South African? I spent some time in SA, wonderful place.Industry compared to consultancy is an interesting one and hard to compare as I've made a significant shift within my field also. Personally I need to be constantly challenged/engaged/stressed in order to stay on top of my game, or I get slack. Consulting certainly provides that environment.

Poor execution, but the substance of the joke has legs. I had never before paid attention to how the site's name borders on banal and risible. It sounds like what your mother would tell your gran you've gone on to become.

Dan! thanks for seeing through the poor execution to the point. In addition to the poor execution, I probably shouldn't have come onto an all-English forum poking fun at the propensity for the term "top" here. Mars, you're right about staying focused and finding the right place. It's nice to hear a recruiter taking a longer term approach to placement. I've told the S.O. that we've found a new marriage counselor. Are you free Wednesdays at 7? Honestly, thanks for the input. Rich, I'm actually American--not a popular answer generally. I was trying to keep my nationality as an "unknown, unknown" as the brilliant genius Donald Rumsfeld put it. Old Donny really improved the national reputation abroad with his flawless logic. You know? As an update, I've gotten in touch with some of my previous recruiters, am in the hunt for others and am still in process with two of the 3 companies I've previously mentioned. The third offered a role I was grateful for but not satisfied with. Fortunately I'm moving closer to the end of the process with the other two. Taking the longer vision means I didn't jump on the first position to offer me a job.
