Hi, I am hoping to get some advise.....I have been told that I was successful through the rounds and EY are looking to make me an offer however, for 2 weeks there is a hold on business case and reviews for new starters. They also said after the 2 weeks hold it is not 100% guaranteed they will make me an offer. has anyone else been in a similar situation? Is it likely that I will receive an offer or should I accept this is a dead duck? Comments/help much appreciated.

Unless you're sitting on a separate offer, I don't see why anything anyone says to this post will be of any practical use. One way or another, you're going to have to wait and find out!

Sounds a bit like a holding statement from our friends at EY, and that the HR dept and Partners are playing spoof to decide how much cannon fodder to bring in this year. You should be pushing your plan B and plan C along - that way if it all goes TU you wont have to start again from scratch.

To start with this unprofessional but not unheard of. You as a candidate had to go through the hoops and loops of hiring process and when u have cleared it, the question was supposed to be asked before advertising for the role is thought of?My advice is to keep chasing them and speak to senior members of the HR team asking for what is the hiring process pending on and what are the timelines, make sure u will be made an offer by then. If the employer tries to evade commitment then they either don't know what they are doing or they are not very keen on hiring you and this case if I had something better I would go for it. Frustrating, is the word!
