1) If I take option 1 , how difficult would it be to go back to consulting down the road? Any experience of people who have gone corporate and back? A) Of course you an go back, but its unlikely you would want to. It gets difficult because your experience will broaden out very rapidly, and you'll become too wide (perhaps too goo) to move back into a pigeon hole within consulting. 2) If I don't "want to go for partner", do I have much to gain by going after option 2? As in, better exit options down the line? A) No. If you aren't focused on partner track you will be counselled out. 3) Any other thoughts/considerations from people who have made the jump, temporarily or permanently? A) Small team, all ex McK, reporting to the CEO directly, and backed by PE. This is a dream job for many. Clearly they take this role seriously - and will invest in building an A Team for it. PE in the background - translates into very, very results orientated, proactive culture, but PE funds these days are looking for longer returns so this counterbalances what used to be the worst excesses. Once you start working with PEs you wont want to go back into consulting.
