Afternoon all,I have recently graduated and having spent a few months post graduation teaching abroad I returned in late December and have been on the recruitment drive since then. I graduated with a 2:1 in Law in Glasgow uni and I was never intent on practising law in Scotland, having much preferred to go down the management consultancy route. I have applied to the big names as well as the more medium sized firms with varying levels of success. I have gotten through to the assessment centre/first interview stage for a couple of the big firms, yet I have not passed the Cv/cover letter screening roles for the smaller firms, which is a slight worry as I prepare for my aforementioned AC/interview. Could anyone be kind enough to offer me any advice for the kinds of things MC firms are looking for in CV's/CL's and at the interviews themselves? As I am also considering undertaking one or two short term internships to fill possible gaps in my experience or perhaps I my even enrol on a business themed masters course. Many thanks in advance for your guidance/advice.

This isn't a problem at all johnao13 - smaller firms typically want a safer bet and don't have the people available to train and develop you at this stage. The big firms are where you need to start your consulting career anyway, get the training, then maybe look to move to a smaller firm later if you want more specialism or just prefer a the environment.Everything is as it should be, just focus on the big firms and get into a decent one.

Thanks for your help and putting my mind at ease. I'll continue to plug away and hopefully will get something sorted sooner rather than later! Cheers again.
