I am a recent ACA grad in Assurance at one of the Big Four.Currently eyeing up secondment opportunities - something on offer is Finance Consulting (Finance Transformation).Does anyone have experience of this area? It doesn't seem like a 'traditional' consulting area?

Huge area. Usually large firms with disparate finance systems and processes (e.g. Post mergers or unmanaged organic growth of subsidiaries) who find their cost of ownership of the finance function is too high, plus the lack of common view stops process improvements, proper cost control, coordinated procurement, cash flow optimisation, etcTypically these transformation programmes include some aspect of implementing a single version of SAP or Oracle financials or some other ERP Software.Stick "finance transformation" into the search function on your favourite job sites to see how often it comes up....

This doesn't apply to me currently as wherever I go it'll be entry level but what's the view in the industry on going from Economic or Investment consulting to something more strategy or management based?Is it thought of along the lines of any consulting is good consulting or is it most likely will you have to go in as a specialty hire? (An example would be if you come in from Mercer and at your new firm you would only do work with financial services clients).
