Hello Everyone,It's great to become a member of this forum and gain exposure to like-minded individuals. So, I have finally managed to reach the final stage of the Deloitte recruitment process, after months of waiting. I have a final presentation and partner interview coming up very soon. They have already given me a topic to focus on for the presentation. The topic is based on how 'quality should be the firm's number one priority for its Audit and Advisory services'?I would be grateful if individuals on this forum could comment on this thread as I need help in preparing for this interview. I hope to arrange one to one sessions with people who I feel can help me prepare above and beyond for what I require to get an offer. I look forward to all of your views. Many Thanks

Well I would ask Khalid at Deloitte. He is a Partner don't you know, and a very illustrious one.But as I doubt Khalid is available, I'll profer this:You are already showing signs of over-baking this presentation. The clue is in the topic - it's as bland as a possible and no one, not one single person, will actually be looking for any real insights into the topic when you present. What they WILL look for is how well you engage your audience, deal with interruptions/questions, how you structure and communicate information etc. So know your material backwards and keep the presentation itself simple. Plenty of eye contact, decide how to deal with interruptions and stick to it, and relax. Smile. It's as much about being able to show you can engage an audience as it is about what you think about quality as the priority in audit and advisory services (you may as well be comparing brown and wholemeal bread).Practice the presentation so you can keep to the allocated time. Introduce what you are going to talk aboutTalk about it, in a coherent, structured wayTell them what you just said in summaryDone.Partner interview - be yourself, relax, and ask good questions. It's a rubber stamping meeting. But Partners have been in the game a long time and can smell BS a mile off. Be yourself and you'll be fine (usually).

Hi Marsday,Well, I think your right... I was over thinking the presentation a little bit - But happy to take on your advice and just relax and by my natural self and just present it as coherently as possible. Cheers for the input.

Many Thanks[/quote]Mars has already offered enough advice. So, I'll try to add on the 'content'.I'd ignore hypothesis testing, MECE, etc.Use a simple Analysis -> Findings -> Recommendations approach. Findings can be negative or positive. The topic is on 'quality in Audit and Advisory'.Start off by defining Quality. The easiest way to do this would be to contrast Quality with Grade. McDonalds may not give you high grade food. But you know that the quality is very high, as you will get the same Big Mac irrespective of which McDonalds outlet you use. Or, RON95 petrol is of a lower grade than RON97, but RON95 itself will be of a high quality, i.e. minimal variance. I am sure you can expand on this. Then, define Audit and Advisory. Make sure you tweak this to Deloitte's approach.I am sure you can carry on from here (findings). Feel free to throw in BS like performance management, 6-sigma, etc.Make sure you offer recommendations, e.g. how Detoilet's approach is the dog's b0ll0cks.

Hi Camster,Thank you for the input. Definitely a great angle to take on what you have said. Would any of you guys be willing to take a look at what I have come up with for this presentation and perhaps give me your professional opinion as to how I can better it?Thank you for all of your support so far, I really appreciate it.

Have a few minutes to spare. Thought I'd be a nice person - nicer than usual - and help you with this. Am assuming that you're going for an entry level role.First up, Analysis. Only 1 slide needed. Explain 'Quality'. Contrast with Grade. This should get you some brownie points. Then, same slide, am sure you can prepare slides, highlight Deloitte's A&A structure.See link: https://www2.deloitte.com/ie/en/pages/careers/solutions/students-audit.htmlBriefly touch specialist groups. Include and cite diagram from link.If asked why are you doing this? Simple. You are trying to understand what quality means. You are also offering an overview of Deloitte's A&A organisation. Both necessary.Next up, Findings from Analysis. The Discipline of Market Leaders highlight 3 aspects: innovation, customer intimacy, operational excellence. Every Deloitte A&A client gets the same high quality service from Deloitte, i.e. very good customer service. This is a result of Deloitte's 'culture of quality', where big and small clients who go for a particular A&A offering (e.g. full audit service or a review service) gets the same high quality service (minimal variance, i.e. operational excellence). Because no time is wasted on low quality service, Deloitte A&A is able to be 'innovative' and offer a range of services (refer back to specialist groups and diagram). These things are only possible given Deloitte's 'culture of quality'.Finally, recap and talk about how Deloitte is truly the dog's b0ll0cks. You only need about 4 slides, 5 tops. As Mars mentioned, partners can smell BS a mile away.. but... they'd be happy with you. LOL!
