Hi, I am looking at applying to Deloitte as an experienced hire but interested to know what the work is life and the culture in the UK? I have read alot of reviews on Glassdoor but they are very US centric and alot of people are talking about very poor work life balance and expectancy of consultants/senior consultants to manage unreasonable workloads and extra practice development activities on top of client work.Obviously, consulting industry is going to be hard work but how true are the horror stories of work life balance and working hours of Deloitte Consulting UK? Also, has anyone worked for Deloitte and had experience of Deloitte sticking to the 4-3-1 motto of 4 days client site, 3 nights away from home and 1 day regional office? Would appreciate peoples views. Thanks

You will have to be more specific as to which are you are looking to apply to. Also, an FYI, Deloitte Consulting is now called "Deloitte MCS Ltd".As with every question on this forum, the answer to your questions is 'it depends'.You could be working on Slough trading estate where you need to be on site 5 days a week. You could be working in Soho on a media client where you will rock up in jeans and leave at reasonable hours every day.You could be working 18 hour days, or 8 hour days.I don't think there is one answer to your questions, a lot of it depends on who you are, what you want, what project you are on, how much the people around you like you, how good you are at networking etc etc.Personally with all consultants, I'm sure they have had times when they have worked an easy 6/7 hour day and times when they have worked 20+ hour days. It depends.

Thanks Geronimo. I am looking at Enterprise Applications (Customer Management) consulting as my background fits well with customer service consulting. Sounds like there is no definitive answer to my question but appreciate your comments. I suppose the difficulty is they give you no indication of what you will be working on and you need to be very flexible so it's a case of taking the rough with the smooth.
