the brown leather shoulder holster version is good, allows concealment but rapid access

if you go brown leather shoulder holster - you so need 1-2 spare batteries to keep in a pocket on the other side - to balance your BB and as your spare 'clips'

A holster's essential - I don't have any pockets in my skin-tight Consulting Unitard (patent pending).

Many professionals recognise that their smart phone is their main "ordinance" - and would feel exposed to enemy action without it. Its what stops our competitors getting one step ahead. Just as a soldier looks after his gun, we should look after our smart phones - that means regular maintenance (screen wipes, full battery recharges, etc) and YES - a shoulder holster as an appropriate way of carrying and protecting it.Of course there are also those professionals, who having lost their virginity, no longer feel the need for this approach.

form your own view.. my other piece of advice to young consultants is to switch the light off when taking a leak - you will spend much of your career pi$$ing in the dark, so it pays to practice

inspired by Robert de Niro in Taxi Driver, I have fabricated a dual forearm holster so that with just a rapid shrug I can shoot either a Blackberry or an iPhone into my hand from under my sleeve - depending on whether the situation requires actual connectivity or a pretty form factor.

billum - you need to combine this with "Jaberwicki" -my new app for both i=phone and blackberry. Switch it on before you enter a meeting and it uses the loadspeaker function on your phone to auto-search every noun in the conversation on Wikipedia.Ever have a client drone on about the importance of "neo-lean techniques" or "next gen sashimi analysis" before turning to you and asking "is that something your firm knows much about?"Simply fire your smart phone down your sleeve and you'll find it is already open at the relevant wikipedia page, making you look like you're well up to speed with all the latest $hit.I've been using it for a month now and won four new pieces of business!

This thread is a classic. I have not laughed so much since someone said "that consultancy" (you know which one) was a wonderful place to work...Actually, I think my level of mirth is even greater with this thread.Keep'em coming

Not entirely a laughing matter...After 10 years of working for proper banking clients (and using a BB like all sensible people) I'm helping out short term on a Media client project consisting of a bunch of start-at-10, go-to-the-pub-at-4, what-colour-should-we-make-the-website, i-phone users. To fit in I've been issued with an i-phone 4 which is fine unless you actually want to make or receive any phone calls.I've started sneaking in my BB, in a "Serpico/The Wire-style" sock holster as worn by undercover US street cops.It passes all but the most stringent pat-downs (at least I can take my jacket off) and I've put it on vibrate-only to avoid the problem of it ringing. The only issue is that the vibrations are playing havoc with my sciatic nerve which tingles all the way into my urinary tracts. Twice when receiving a text I've involuntarily pi$$ed myself.Any ideas on how to avoid this dilema?

Reading this thread reminded of where I work about 2 years ago when we all carried:Personal mobileWork mobile for callsWork blackberry for e-mail (for some reason disabled from making calls)For a laugh, I put each of the 3 into its own belt holster, hooked it all separately to my belt and took off my jacket just before I walked into my Friday afternoon team meeting.Ahhhh Batman would have been proud...Moral of the story - definite "nay" to holsters. If an item is used purely for comedy value, then its a nay!

I say yay to them... Sometimes if i close my eyes i imagine i'm a special agent or something, instead of a fat, bald, spotty, 40+ year old computer jockey with about as much charm and grace as the elephant man in his best leopard skin thong.
