What's the latest on pwc strategy? i heard something was afoot at the top table. anyone heard any more??

I left PwC Strategy last year (to make a move into an in-house role). I thought that it was a very good firm overall - good mix of strategy/CDD projects, nice colleagues and no 'face time' culture (although hours were still long before deadlines).When I left there were 30 partners and 300 consultants, so in my opinion, it is a stable (and sizable) practice.If it helps any potential candidates, I would say that its strongest practices were TMT (especially media), Retail & Financial Services

I'm interested in joining PwC but not sold on the area being advertised, although I think i'm a good fit for it. Can you tell me how easy it is to move around between different practices if you identify an area you're interested in?

At Associate/Senior Associate level, it is very easy to try projects across different sectors - in fact, it is encouraged at PwC.The ease that you can switch sector teams on a permanent basis depends on the level that you join - the more junior you are, the easier it is.However, you should expect to spend at least 1 year being 'assigned' to a given sector team. After that, providing you have done the appropriate networking, it should be reasonably easy to make a switch

Hi mate thank you very much for the response. I would be an experienced hire if I went for it, poss sc or director level. I'm keen to work across sector if possible but more pertinent is the practice.I'm not convinced i'd like to stay long in the one advertised but see it as an entry point into pwc perhaps after a while there, then look to transfer into an area I have more interest in.

Weren't PWC the ones that wanted to expand their consulting practice by a million million million billion times last year? Or was that KPMG? What happened to all that?

The more senior you are the more you specialise. If you are taken on as an experienced hire at SC or Director level it ll be on the basis of either your strategy consulting experience (which would have to be very strong to be a Director) or your industry knowledge. Directors are all assigned to a specific industry.After all business development is about building industry networks. Why waste a year of your time and our effort building networks in a place you don't want to be?So it seems rather pointless to join at SC/Director level in an industry you are not planning to work in. Plus presumably if it doesn't motivate you then you'll not perform as well as you might.Be up front and wait until an opportunity comes up in an industry you are interested in.I wonder whether you really have the experience/qualifications to join at this level.

Again rumours abound about big changes at PwC strategy. Anybody got any insight?

That is what I heard. No idea about the team.

Would avoid like the plague, PWC advisory is going downhill and this is just any early sign of the cracks appearing. Anyone interviewing there I'd start looking elsewhere
