Hi,I need some advise on how to sell myself to my potential employers. Now here's the predicament:I had 5 years of technical experience in IT when I decided to do MBA 2 years ago. After my MBA I decided to freelance and be my own boss. Things were going good up until a few months ago. Now, I have decided to find myself a full-time job again but its been hard convincing my potential employers that I wouldn't go back to Freelancing when things get better. Any suggestions as to what the employers might want to hear from somebody who wants to move from freelancing to full-time position?

The perception may be that you look like you want a perm role because you can't get a contract and just need to refresh your skills.Best bet is to take a freelance role and then make it clear you are interested in something permanent; or to look while you are on a freelance contract.

So, if you began your MBA 2 years ago, presumably you have max 1 year of post-MBA freelancing under your belt (you can bury any time you worked while studying under the MBA). I would therefore position it that you tried freelancing for a year to see what it was like. Only if you really do intend to give fulltime work a serious shot of course.I would turn the question around though - if the employer thinks they can provide you with a steady stream of work, why would you want to go back to freelancing and having to compete to get the same projects? If the employer isn't confident in their ability to effectively compete for work on your behalf, why should you come and work for them?

Just remove freelancing from your CV and tell the employers that you took an year off to do some probono work. A lot of people do this kind of probono/voluntary/travelling after MBA..

Lesson 1 - learn the difference between advise and advice.I know spelling on a forum is not a big deal, but if there is one word that consultants should know, it's advice!!
