I wanted to reach out to you guys, through this anonymous platform. Any advice will be much appreciated.Since leaving university, I have been working for a large multinational consultancy. Originally excited about being able to resolve challenging problems for clients, I have been mostly spending the past few months chasing people with a clipboard in my hand and producing status reports. Apparently this is what they call leadership. To say I find it mind numbing and unsatisfactory is an understatement. I don't think I can take it anymore. It hasn't always been like this. Previously, I was working in a smaller team: I had more interaction with the clients - we had more opportunities to talk about the bigger picture (rather than holding an hour long workshop talking about some IT interface program). It is different to what it is like in a massive implementation project. I actually liked my work back then.I want to leave....but I am not sure where my skills will be wanted. I am in IT consultancy work - but I want to get away from the implementation side of things. I applied to the other big firms (Dtt, PWC, EY etc...) , but to be honest, my heart was never in it. It all seems like the same old $***...but in a different flavour. It's weird, as I never thought I would ever want to leave....but what options are there for a "consultant" (it sickens me to use that word) with 2 years experience?
